His Steadfast Love Endures Forever, Praise Him! (Psalm 100:4-5)

Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! ⁵For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. —Psalm 100:4-5

Imagine this scene in the temple. Gladness in the Lord’s people—joyful noises, singing, thanksgiving, praise, and blessing to our great God. It is a glimpse of heaven.

The Lord, He is God! And He is good! One day, we will enter His heavenly gates with thanksgiving and we will dance for joy in His courts. Our lips will be loosed to praise Him then in a way they cannot now. We will see Jesus! We will be changed! And our expressions of love for Him will flow unhindered. Even the earth and all creation will make a joyful noise in His presence. We will lift up songs of praise with all the saints of all time and there, in a unified thunderous swell, we will bless His name forever!

This is our glorious reality because the Lord is our covenant-keeping, faithful God. His steadfast love, His lovingkindness, is a covenant love set on us in Christ Jesus. It endures forever.

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:38-39).

In every generation, God is faithful. He keeps us in His love and holds us by His word. Take time today to think about His faithfulness to every generation. All His promises are true. He faithfully revealed His word to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob–and every generation that has come after them–today’s children and grandchildren. And He will be faithful to their children, too.

A Psalm of Praise by Richard Baxter

In Him rejoice, and there proclaim His holy name with sounding voice, My soul, bear thou thy part, triumph in God above, And with a well tuned heart sing thou the songs of love. And all my days, let no distress nor fears suppress His joyful praise. Away, distrustful care! I have Thy promise, Lord, To banish all despair, I have Thine oath and Word. And therefore, I shall see Thy face and there Thy grace shall magnify. With Thy triumphant flock then I shall numbered be; Built on th’eternal Rock, His glory shall we see. The heav’ns so high, with praise shall ring, And all shall sing in harmony.

(Poetical Fragments by Richard Baxter, p. 85-88)
